Performance Analysis of SC-FDMA and OFDMA in the Presence of Receiver Phase Noise

چکیده
In this paper we study the effect of receiver phase noise on single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) and orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA). We show that in both SCFDMA and OFDMA, common phase error rotates all the symbols by a certain angle and that the higher order frequency components of phase noise result in inter-carrier interference, or ICI. We then study the effect of phase noise on the performance of linear receivers that are often used in practice. In particular, we show that the amount of ICI affecting the sub-carriers depends closely on the allocation of sub-carriers among different users and prove that the performance of linear receivers in the presence of receiver phase noise deteriorates much more in the case of interleaved SC-FDMA than in the case of localized SC-FDMA. We identify the association of the significant phase noise components with the components of multi-user interference to be the fundamental reason behind the performance gap between interleaved and localized SC-FDMA. Index Terms phase noise, SC-FDMA, inter-carrier interference, linear MMSE receivers. Manuscript submitted to the IEEE Transactions on Communications on April 10, 2011. Performance Analysis of Sc-FDMA and OFDMA in LTE Frame Structure
Long Term Evolution (LTE) is consents pliable spectrum distribution which renders enriched wireless data services to users at lower latency and multi-megabit throughput. LTE uses Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) and Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (Sc-FDMA) for downlink and Uplink transmission where OFDMA has been acquired in LTE for downlink transmission ...

In the growth of fourth-generation mobile servicing, long` c ns term evolution (LTE) is an emanate technology. In LTE the downlink model build up on orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) and the uplink arrangement build up on single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA).In this paper we have tendency to derive the achievement of typical elemental differences betwe...

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA) appears today as a strong candidate in on-going standardization. Despite its attractive features, it has several drawbacks when employed in the uplink: The high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) inherited from Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and the inherent frequency diversity loss. The loss of frequency diversity can be ...

Abstract: Single carrier frequency division multiple access (SC-FDMA) which utilizes single carrier modulation at the transmitter and frequency domain equalization at the receiver is a technique that has similar performance and essentially the same overall structure as those of an OFDMA system. One prominent advantage over OFDMA is that the SC-FDMA signal has lower peak-to-average power ratio (...
